Jahar Debnath is the lifeblood of literary culture and social activities and movement in the Dhalai district of Tripura. The only name floating in the air in the sky of the Dhalai district is Jahar Debnath. Born in an obscure village called Lalchhari in the Ambasa subdivision of the Dhalai district, Jahar Debnath is well known today.

From an early age, he was attracted to literature and culture, as well as to science and rational thought, and human values; this makes the boy Jaharlal Debnath inspired to become a devoted writer in later life as well as a successful social worker.

A social organization called ‘Prabha Dhalai’ founded by the revered Jahar Debnath is today one of the leading organizations in the state of Tripura and North East India.
